PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a gas sensor can prevent the poisoning of a measurement target gas side electrode by SOx in a measurement target gas.
SOLUTION : The gas sensor element 1 includes an oxygen-ion inductive solid-state electrolyte body 13, the measurement target gas side electrode 14 and a reference gas side electrode 15 respectively installed on one surface and the other surface of the solid-state electrolyte body 13, and a diffused resistor layer 12 for penetrating the formed measurement target gas between the measurement target gas side electrode 14 and the outside of the element. A SOx occlusion layer 2 for occluding the SOx in the measurement target gas is formed at least in a part of a pathway of the measured gas from the outside of the element to the measurement target gas side electrode 14. The SOx occlusion layer 2 supports an alkali metal, an alkaline earth metal or rare earths, or these oxide, and a noble metal.
