PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a base agent for a hair cosmetic to be incorporated with a hair cosmetic that imparts good hair styling retention to the hair cosmetic without using an oily agent acting as a plasticizer and retains re-dressing properties for dressed hair for long hours.
SOLUTION : The base agent for a hair cosmetic comprises a polymer of an ethylenically unsaturated monomer component (A) and has a glass transition temperature of 35°C or lower and a weight-average molecular weight of 1, 000-30, 000. Incorporation of the base agent for a hair cosmetic into a hair cosmetic imparts good hair styling retention to the hair cosmetic without using an oily agent acting as a plasticizer and retains re-dressing properties for dressed hair for long hours. Furthermore, the hair dressed with the hair cosmetic hardly suffers from stickiness and stiffness.
