PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for recovering rare-earth elements excellent in profitability and safety by resolving the point at issue in the conventional recovering method.
SOLUTION : The method for recovering the rare-earth elements includes : (A) process : raw material containing rare-earth magnetic alloy is heated in the oxidizing atmosphere to make the oxides of the rare-earth elements; (B) process : this oxide and water, are mixed to make slurry, and hydrochloric acid is added while heating; (C)process : alkali is added while heating the obtained solution; (D) process : the undissolved and deposited solid and the solution containing the rare-earth elements, are separated. Thus, the rare-earth elements can be recovered. According to this invention, this recovering method for rare-earth elements has the following merits, that a low cost hydrochloric acid can be used and the decrease of the hydrochloric acid can be attained, and the risk of the generation of hydrogen gas can be decreased, and further, the recovering ratio of the rare-earth elements can be improved and the excellent profitability and the safety can be obtained.
