PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a rare earth metal complex which excels in a luminescent quantum yield, is characteristics in a luminescent wavelength and can be produced from inexpensive raw materials, and its production method; and to provide a wavelength conversion material using the complex.
SOLUTION : The complex is characterized by comprising a ligand having at least three phosphine oxides in the same molecule, where the ligand is subjected to tridentate coordination with a central metal of a rare earth metal. The wavelength conversion material is characterized by containing the complex. The production method for the complex is characterized by subjecting the ligand having at least three phosphine oxides in the same molecule to tridentate coordination with the central metal at first, and thereafter another ligand is coordinated thereto.
