PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for manufacturing glass articles for molding articles in a large and complicated shape, and to provide an article obtained by the method.
SOLUTION : The method includes steps of : preparing a glass in a form comprising particles, beads, microspheres or fibers, wherein the glass contains REO-Al2O3 and 0 or more and less than 20 wt.% of SiO2, 0 or more and less than 20 wt.% of B2O3 and 0 or more and less than 40 wt.% of P2O5, based on the weight of the glass, and the glass has a glass transition temperature Tg and a crystallization temperature Tx, these temperatures being different by at least 25K; heating the glass at a temperature equal to or above Tg so as to coalesce the particles, beads, microspheres or fibers to form a coalesced shape; and cooling the coalesced shape to form the article.
