PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for producing a porous carbon article useful as an electrode material of an electricity storage device using a nonaqueous electrolyte.
SOLUTION : The method for producing the carbon porous body comprises the steps of : (a) firing a mixture of a nitrogen-containing heterocyclic compound having a carboxy group or a hydroxy group (for example, nicotinic acid) and an alkaline earth metal ion (for example, calcium ion) in an inert atmosphere to obtain a fired material; and (b) cleaning the fired material with a cleaning liquid capable of dissolving a component derived from the alkaline earth metal ion in the fired material to remove the component to obtain a carbon porous body.
