PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method with which an Sm-Fe-N magnet having a good magnetic property can be manufactured stably. SOLUTION : A method of manufacturing a magnet containing R (R is one or more kinds of rare-earth elements, and inevitably include Sm), T (Fe or Fe and Co), and N includes a quenching process for obtaining a thin strip-like quenched alloy by the use of a single roll method, in which a molten alloy containing R and T is quenched by discharging the molten alloy from the discharge opening of a nozzle, so that the alloy may come into collision with the peripheral surface of a cooling roller. In the quenching process, a chamber in which the cooling roller is positioned is maintained in a rare gas atmosphere of 10 Torr or higher in pressure, and the molten is discharged by applying a discharge pressure of 300 Torr or higher to the discharge opening. |
