PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a compound metal oxide which is extremely useful as a positive electrode active material while reducing amount of use of a rare metal, and a positive electrode for a sodium secondary battery, and the sodium secondary battery.
SOLUTION : This is the compound metal oxide which has a crystal structure of α-NaFeO2 type (layered rock salt type) and is expressed by a formula NaxFe1-yMyO2 (M is one kind or more of element selected from the fourth group element, fifth group element, sixth group element, fourteenth group element in the IUPAC periodic-law table and Mn, x is a value more than 0.5 and less than 1, and y is more than 0 and less than 0.5). Furthermore, a positive electrode for sodium secondary battery and a sodium secondary battery having this compound metal oxide are provided.
