PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for producing a compound oxide nanoparticle, by which the compound oxide nanoparticle consisting of an oxide of a trivalent metal element and a rare earth element can be produced to have uniform composition and particle size.
SOLUTION : The method for producing the compound oxide nanoparticle comprises : a precipitation step of agitating a liquid mixture of an acid aqueous solution containing a trivalent metal ion and a rare earth metal ion with a carbonate-containing basic aqueous solution within pH4-5 and within 70-95°C to precipitate an amorphous particle which occludes the trivalent metal ion and consists of rare earth metal carbonate; and a firing step of firing the precipitated amorphous particle to obtain the crystalline compound oxide nanoparticle.
