PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a phosphorescent substance which may consist only of organic compounds without requiring the use of any rare-earth element and can emit afterglow for a long time.
SOLUTION : Disclosed is a phosphorescent substance that comprises an electron donor molecule in a stable radical cationic state, and an electron acceptor molecule in a stable radical anionic state. After light irradiation of the phosphorescent substance is stopped, luminescence is observed at 10 K.
