PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a dielectric ceramic for a multilayer ceramic capacitor excellent in reliability even made to a thin layer, and its temperature characteristic of capacitance satisfies B characteristic and X7R characteristic.
SOLUTION : This dielectric ceramic comprises barium titanate, at least one kind of rare-earth oxide among Y, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm and Yb, calcium oxide and silicon oxide. When the barium titanate, rare-earth oxide, calcium oxide, silicon oxide and zirconium oxide are expressed as BamTiO3, RO3/2 (provided that R is a rare-earth element), CaO, SiO2 and ZrO2, respectively, the dielectric ceramic comprises a mole of RO3/2, b mole of CaO, c mole of SiO2 and d mole of ZrO2 to 100 moles of BamTiO3, where m, a, b, c and d each satisfy relations of 0.990≤m≤1.030; 0.5≤a≤30; 0.1≤b≤30; 0.5≤c≤30; 0.075≤d≤0.38, respectively.
