PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a semiconductor ceramic composition for a positive temperature coefficient (PTC) thermistor which has low specific resistance at a normal temperature, large positive temperature coefficient and specific resistance change rate to a temperature and Curie point shifted to high temperature side without using Pb and a compounding material for the PTC thermister which can provide the semiconductor ceramic composition for the PTC thermister.
SOLUTION : The semiconductor ceramic composition for the PTC thermistor contains each element of Ba, Ti, Bi, O as essential components and further one or more kinds of univalent alkali metals. The molar ratio X2 of the univalent alkali metal to Bi is 0.65≤X2≤1.59, the content of Nb is ≤480 ppm and each content of Sb, Ta and each of rare earth element k is ≤10 ppm.
