PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To secure stable operation of an excitation light source to efficiently utilize residual excitation optical power.SOLUTION : An optical fiber amplifier is provided with an excitation light source 32, an optical circulator 33 having three or more ports connected with the excitation light source 32, a first optical coupler 34-1 for combining excitation lights coming through the excitation light source 32 and optical circulator 33 to incident into a rare earth dope fiber, a second optical coupler 34-2 for separating the residual excitation light arrived at the other end of the rare earth dope fiber, a reflection mirror 35 for reflecting the separated residual excitation light to return it again into the rare earth dope fiber through the second optical coupler 34-2, a detector 36 of the residual excitation light for detecting the residual excitation light which is returned by reflection and input to the optical circulator 33 through one end of the rare earth dope fiber and the first optical coupler 34-1, and a controller 37 for controlling the excitation light source 32 so that the detected residual excitation light becomes constant.COPYRIGHT : (C)2008, JPO&INPIT |
