PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To produce raw powder for a rare earth sintered magnet using granules having excellent fluidity and capable of attaining the improvement in the dimensional precision of a compact and the improvement of productivity. SOLUTION : This method for producing raw powder for a rare earth sintered magnet is provided with : a stage where primary alloy grains having a prescribed composition are added with a first organic liquid and a liquid component having saturated vapor pressure higher than that of the first organic liquid to obtain a mixture; and a stage where granules composed of the primary alloy grains are producing using the mixture. As the liquid component, a second organic liquid having a saturated vapor pressure higher than that of the first organic liquid is desirably used, and, it is desirable that, to the primary alloy grains, the first organic liquid is added by ≤6.0 wt% (exclusive of zero), and the second organic liquid is added by ≤15.0 wt.% (exclusive of zero).
