PURPOSE : An inorganic EL laser device is provided to implement an optical integrated circuit with an optical IC containing passive optical element by integrating pumping-type long-wavelength optical sources on a glass or silicon substrate.
CONSTITUTION : An inorganic EL(Electro-Luminescent) laser device includes a silicon substrate(101), a dielectric layer(102), a laser active medium(103), and electrodes(104, 105). The dielectric layer is laminated on the silicon substrate. The laser active medium is formed in the dielectric layer. The electrodes are formed on the silicon substrate and the dielectric layer, respectively. The dielectric layer and the active medium form an overall waveguide structure. The active medium serves as a core in the waveguide structure. When an AC voltage is applied, an electromagnetic field is generated between the dielectric layer.
