PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To increase the number of carbon atoms of a light hydrocarbon fraction by bringing the light hydrocarbon fraction into contact with a catalyst.
SOLUTION : The number of carbon atoms of the light hydrocarbon fraction is increased by using a system of the catalyst, which is obtained by depositing cobalt on silica or the silica to which an alkali metal or an alkaline-earth metal is added, and bringing the light hydrocarbon fraction into contact with the catalyst. This catalyst achieves a high effect when a metathesis reaction is restrained.
