PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To increase strength and increase the electric resistance at the time of a current limiting action by changing the composition of an oriented rare earth bulk superconductor, and increasing the electric resistance of this portion in the ordinary conductive state. SOLUTION : An REBa2 Cu3 Ox superconductor is used as an oriented rare earth bulk superconductor, where RE indicates one or more elements selected from a group of Y, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb. When the value of (x) is decreased, the electric resistance is increased. The improvement of the current limiting effect can be expected by changing the oxygen quantity. When the use in liquid nitrogen is considered, the oxygen quantity is adjusted at the value of (x) between 6.75 and 6.85 in particular. The value of (x) is generally adjusted between 6.4 and 6.85. A material having large specific resistance in the ordinary conductive state can be obtained when the oxygen quantity is adjusted and an element to be substituted for Cu is added. |
