PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a catalyst for cleaning an exhaust gas capable of exhibiting a high catalytic activity under a usual service condition and sufficiently suppressing a reduction in the catalytic activity even if it is exposed to an exhaust gas of high temperature for a long period of time.
SOLUTION : The catalyst for cleaning the exhaust gas includes a composite oxide of a material (A) capable of releasing a noble metal at a high temperature, zirconia and/or alumina, and at least one element selected from the group consisting of an alkaline earth metal element, an rare earth element and a group 3A element, and is provided with a material (B) for receiving the precious metal released from the material (A) at a high temperature.
