PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a production method of a magnetic powder having a high saturation magnetization and magnetic permeability and small coercive force.
SOLUTION : The production method includes : a preparation step of preparing an amorphous raw material powder containing iron, boron and rare earth elements; a hydrogenation step of hydrogenating the raw material powder in a hydrogen-containing atmosphere to produce a hydrogenated powder; a dehydrogenation step of dehydrogenating the hydrogenated powder in a reduced pressure atmosphere to produce a dehydrogenated powder; an annealing step of heat treating the dehydrogenated powder in an argon atmosphere to produce an iron boride powder; and a nitridation step of nitriding the iron boron powder in a nitrogen atmosphere to obtain a magnetic powder composed of an iron boronitride powder having a saturation magnetization of 1.63 T or more and an absolute value of a crystal magnetic anisotropy constant of 0.2×105 J/m3 or less.
