PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a production method of a magnetic powder having a high saturation magnetization and magnetic permeability and excellent responsiveness to a high-frequency magnetic field. SOLUTION : The production method includes : a preparation step of preparing an amorphous raw material powder containing iron, boron and rare earth elements; a hydrogenation step of hydrogenating the raw material powder in a hydrogen-containing atmosphere to produce a hydrogenated powder; a dehydrogenation step of dehydrogenating the hydrogenated powder in a reduced pressure atmosphere to produce a dehydrogenated powder; and an annealing step of heat treating the dehydrogenated powder in an argon atmosphere to obtain a magnetic powder composed of an iron boride powder having such a structure that a second compound is dispersed in a crystalline structure of iron boride with boron intruding in crystalline lattices of iron, and having a saturation magnetization of 1.50 T or more and a crystal magnetic anisotropy constant of -0.9×105 J/m3 or less.
