PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To obtain an IPM motor which is wide in the range of a constant voltage, and also wide in the range of a variable speed.
SOLUTION : A plurality of one-character magnet insertion holes 2 are formed at a rotor core 1 in the circumferential direction at equal pitches, permanent magnets 3 composed of rare earth are inserted into the magnet insertion holes 2, the outside width of the magnet insertion hole 2 is inclined at an angle of approximately 115° to 145° per pole, the radial width of the rotor core 1 of the permanent magnet 3 is set to be almost equal to the radial width of the rotor core 1 of the magnet insertion hole 2, and the circumferential width of the rotor core 1 of the permanent magnet 3 is set so that the capacity of the permanent magnet 3 is almost 50% to 60% of that of the magnet insertion hole 2. The shortest distance is set to be almost 3 mm or shorter between each part 2a outside the magnet insertion hole 2 and the external periphery of the rotor core 1, and guides 1a for fixing the permanent magnets 3 are arranged at circumferential both sides of the rotor core 1 of the permanent magnet 3 in the magnet insertion hole 2.
