PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a ceramic metal-halide lamp having a translucent ceramic airtight container of which outer tube hardly receives damages at the time of a burst of an arc tube, and to provide a lighting device using the same.
SOLUTION : The ceramic metal-halide lamp MHL is equipped with an arc tube IT having a translucent ceramic airtight container 1, a pair of electrodes, and a discharge medium containing at least rare gas and a halide of light-emitting metal, a shroud SG of which the both ends surrounding this from the side direction are open and the thickness T and the outer diameter R satisfy a formula : 0.025≤T/R, a support member SF which supports the arc tube and the shroud, an outer tube OT which houses these, and a power supply member B.
