A kind of cracking catalyst includes rare-earth containing Y zeolite and carrier, characterized in that the rare-earth containing Y zeolite has an intracrystalline rare-earth content of 4-15 wt%% calculated as the oxide RE2O3, and an original unit cell constant of 2.440-2.465 nm. A balanced unit cell constant more than 2.435 nm is obtained after the catalyst is aged under severe conditions of 100%% steam at 800°C for 17 hours. There are rare earth elements on the carrier, the content of which is 1.0-8.0 wt%% based on the weight of the carrier. The present invention also relates to the preparation method of the catalyst.
