PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a golf ball which can impart a favorable touch of hitting balls and excellent approach spin performance along with an increase in carry.
SOLUTION : The solid golf ball includes a core and a cover layer covering it and has a number of dimples on the external surface of the outer most layer out of the cover layer. The core is formed out of a rubber base material containing a polybutadiene rubber having 60% or more of cis-1, 4-bond synthesized by using a rare-earth catalyst and a rubber composition containing an organosulfur compound, unsaturated carboxylic acid or its metal salt, an inorganic filler and an antioxidant while the degree of deformation and the distribution of hardness when a load from 10 kgf to 130 kgf is imposed on the core is given the specified range. The cover layer is mainly composed of a polyurethane material and the thickness, surface hardness and bending rigidity of the cover layer are held within the specified range while the degree of deformation when a load from 10 kgf to 130 kgf is imposed on the ball is held within the specified range.
