PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method of decomposing an exhaust gas and exhausted particulate matter from automobiles, or a waste electric or electronic apparatus by using titanium oxide, and a method of recovering trace substances in the exhaust gas, or rare metals of the waste electric or electronic apparatus by the decomposition method.
SOLUTION : Exhaust material containing at least particulate matter (PM) or the waste electric or electronic apparatus containing rare metals is treated by being brought into contact with titanium oxide heated at 300-600°C. By bringing the exhaust material, or the waste electric or electronic apparatus into contact with titanium oxide, the trace substances in the exhaust material or rare metals in the waste electric or electronic apparatus is adsorbed by titanium oxide so as to be recovered.
