PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To prevent the components from degrading around the fixing unit even in a rare case of changed breakage of the elements.
SOLUTION : This image forming device has a pressing mechanism to press the first fixing component to the second fixing component, a pressure releasing mechanism to cancel the pressure of the pressing mechanism, a heater 3 to heat the first or second fixing component by applying current, a current cutoff 17 to cut off the current to the heater, a current control 15 to control the current to the heater, defect sensors 13, 22 to detect troubles in the current cutoff and current control, and a controller 13 to control the operations of the pressure releasing mechanism, the current cutoff, and the current control. The above controller controls the pressure releasing mechanism not to release the pressure at the pressure releasing timing, if the defect sensors find some troubles.
