PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for producing an ether carboxylate salt, capable of producing the ether calboxylate salt in a high yield, reducing the amount of an expensive catalyst to be used, and easily recovering the catalyst. SOLUTION : This method for producing an ether carboxylate salt contains an etherification process for reacting a hydroxyl group-containing organic compound with at least one kind of carboxyl group-containing organic compound selected from a carboxyl group-containing unsaturated organic compound and a carboxyl group-containing epoxy compound in the presence of a catalyst containing a rare earth element in an aqueous medium, wherein the aqueous medium is controlled in the range of >pH 9 and <=pH 13, and the catalyst is used in an amount of 0.0001-0.4 mol per mol of the carboxyl group-containing organic compound. |
