PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a lithium tantalate signal crystal and a lithium niobate single crystal generating less static electricity due to the temperature variation and capable of promptly self-neutralizing the electric charge even when the electric charge is generated and to provide a surface acoustic wave filter using the single crystals as piezoelectric substrates and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION : In the lithium tantalate single crystal and a lithium niobate single crystal, at least one or more kinds of additive elements to be selected from iron, copper, manganese, molybdenum, cobalt, nickel, zinc, carbon, magnesium, titanium, tungsten, indium, tin and a rare-earth element are made to be contained by 0.01 to 1.00wt%.
