PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for production of ether carboxylate which can be suitably used for easily preparing the objective ether carboxylate in high yield, reducing the amount of use of an expensive catalyst, and easily recovering the same.
SOLUTION : The invention relates to the method for producing the ether carboxylate comprising an etherification process of reacting an organic compound including a hydroxyl group with at least an organic compound including a carboxylic group selected from the group composed of an unsaturated organic compound including a carboxylic group and an epoxy compound including a carboxylic group, in an aqueous medium in the presence of a catalyst including rare earth elements, wherein the pH of the aqueous medium is 9-13, and the catalyst is used in amount of 0.0001-0.4 mole per mole of the organic compound including the carboxylic group.
