PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a solid polymer fuel cell which is practical, high in fuel performance, superior in durability and less in deterioration of an electrode catalyst.
SOLUTION : This is the solid polymer fuel cell equipped with a membrane electrode assembly in which an electrode is joined to both faces of an electrolyte membrane, and a hardly soluble inorganic anion exchanger which is added to either one or more of the electrolyte membrane and the electrode, and does not contain Fe substantially. In this case, the hardly soluble anion exchanger is preferably hydroxide, hydrated hydroxide, water-containing oxide, oxy hydroxide, or oxy oxide to contain either one or more selected from a group consisting of rare earth element, transition metal element, and alkaline earth metal element.
