PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To obtain a monolithic refractory showing high hot-strength and an excellent durability. SOLUTION : The rare earth metal-containing monolithic refractory comprises, by mass, 50-99% Al2O3, 0.005-20% at least one rare earth metal oxide and the balance being MgO and other unavoidable impurities.
