[PROBLEMS] To search for a glucokinase activator from rare sugars and provide a composition for treating a medical condition relating to the glucokinase activity which contains the above activator as the active ingredient. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] A promoter for the migration of glucokinase from nucleus to cytoplasm which comprises D-psicose and/or D-tagatose as the active ingredient; or a composition for preventing or treating the onset of a medical condition relating to the glucokinase activity. This composition, which comprises D-psicose and/or D-tagatose as the active ingredient and is usable for preventing or treating the onset of a medical condition relating to the glucokinase activity, is in a form selected from the group consisting of a food additive, a food material, a food, a drink, a health food, a health drink, a drug and a feed. The medical condition relating to the glucokinase activity is selected from among impaired glucose tolerance, type 2 diabetes, insulin resistance disease, lipidemia, metabolic syndrome and obesity. The composition in the form of a drug comprises D-psicose and/or D-tagatose as the active ingredient together with one or more pharmaceutically acceptable carriers. |
