SUBSTANCE : method for treatment of composition, which contains at least 80% (wt) of rare-earth metal halide of AcLnfX(3f+e) formula, where Ln stands for one or more rare-earth elements, X stands for one or more halogen atoms (Cl, Br or I), and А stands for one or more alkali metals (K, Li, Na Rb or Cs), e and f take the following values : е, which may be zero, is less than or equal to 2f, -f is more than or equal to 1, implies contacting non-transparent material, which contains at least 20% (wt) of carbon. Material surface, which contacts the above composition, contains at least 20% (wt) of carbon, and the above composition contacts the material in molten state at temperature over 500°C.
EFFECT : production of transparent blackspot-free monocrystals with remarkable scintillation properties.
