PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a Lewis acid catalyst composition containing a mixed medium which facilitates the improvement of reaction efficiency, the recovery and reuse of a catalyst when a liquid phase reaction is performed by using a Lewis acid catalyst, and a reaction method using the Lewis acid catalyst composition. SOLUTION : The Lewis acid catalyst composition comprising a mixed medium having a totally fluorine-substituted aliphatic hydrocarbon A and at least one non-fluorinated hydrocarbon B selected from the group consisting of an aliphatic hydrocarbon, a halogenated (excluding fluorinated) aliphatic hydrocarbon, an aromatic hydrocarbon, and a halogenated (excluding fluorinated) aromatic hydrocarbon and at least one compound selected from the group consisting of a rare earth metal salt of a perfluoroalkyl sulfonic acid, a rare earth metal salt of a bis(perfluoroalkyl sulfonyl) imide, and a rare earth metal salt of a tris(perfluoroalkyl sulfonyl) metide and the method 4 using the composition are provided. |
