PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a high-voltage discharge lamp which restrains generation of cracks in a lifetime of a light-transmitting ceramic airtight container when vertically lighting the high-voltage discharge lamp of non-mercury having the light-transmitting ceramic airtight container, obtains desired light-emitting efficiency, and allows easy production of the integrally-molded light-transmitting ceramic airtight container.
SOLUTION : The high-voltage discharge lamp comprises the light-transmitting ceramic airtight container 1 in which a surrounding section 1a with a vertically-asymmetrical swollen shape and a pair of small-diameter cylindrical sections 1b having an upper swelling section 1a1, a lower swelling section 1a2 with a small diameter, and a connection section 1a3 for connecting between the upper swelling section 1a1 and the lower swelling section 1a2, are integrally formed; a pair of current leading conductors 2; a pair electrodes 3 wherein an upper electrode faces to an upper swelling section and a lower electrode faces to a lower swelling section and both tips are separately faced with each other; and a discharge medium including halide of a light-emitting metal and rare gas enclosed by the pressure of one atmospheric pressure or more.
