PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for efficiently producing an unsaturated alcohol by a dehydration reaction of an alcohol by suppressing the formation of byproducts.
SOLUTION : Provided is a method for producing an unsaturated alcohol from a raw material alcohol by the dehydration reaction in the presence of a catalyst, which comprises an oxide of at least one kind of yttrium group rare earth metals selected from the group consisting of holmium, yttrium, erbium, thulium and lutetium, and has been prepared through firing at 800-1, 500°C.
