The invention further provides a method for producing the metallic state of at least one chemical element selected from the rare earths and actinides, by electrolytic reduction in a medium of molten salts, which comprises carrying out said method of selecting a set of operating conditions. The invention further provides methods for producing dysprosium and neodymium in the metallic state by electrolytic reduction in media of molten salts.
