PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a rare earth magnet having an excellent coercive force, and a producing method thereof.
SOLUTION : A rare earth magnet includes : a magnetic phase containing Sm, Fe and N; a Zn phase existing around the magnetic phase; and an intermediate phase existing between the magnet phase and the Zn phase. The intermediate phase contains Zn, and the oxygen content of the intermediate phase is higher than that of the Zn phase. A method of producing the rare earth magnet includes a step of performing heat treatment on mixed powder obtained by mixing the magnetic material raw material powder whose oxygen content is equal to or less than 1.0 mass% and a modifying material powder containing metal Zn and/or Zn alloy.
