PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide an addition compound of a carboxylic acid with a halide or halogenocarboxylate of a rare earth element or gallium, for use in production of a polymerization catalyst.
SOLUTION : The addition compound of a carboxylic acid with a halide or halogenocarboxylate of a rare earth element or gallium is provided for solving the problems on the matter. The compound is obtained by reacting HX (X is a halogen) with a carboxylate of a rare earth element or gallium in a solvent selected from among an alkane, a cycloalkane, an aromatic solvent and their mixture.
