A rendering library (10) is disclosed for rendering pixel data to a display (50). The rendering library (10) includes a printer rendering engine (20) for providing pixel accurate pixel data to a printer (20), d a display rendering engine (30) for providing pixel data to e display (50) in a substantially hateraetive manner. A command (170, 180 or 190) is passed to the rendering library (10) from external soft, rare, wi the command (170, 180 and 190) i dicat ng a preference for speed or quaI ty.
