A re-pressurisation device 36 for cooled cooling fluid comprises a compressor stage 42, a turbine stage 46, and a common mounting means 58 there for such that one of the compressor stage 42 and the turbine stage 46 is located radially inwardly of the other. The re-pressurisation device 36 further comprising fluid flow directing means 44 to direct a first portion of the fluid 40 through the compressor stage 42 and a second portion 54 through the turbine stage 46. The compressor and turbine stages 42, 46 may each comprise annular arrays of rotor blades 50, 56 as well as stator vanes 48, 60. More than one compressor and/or turbine stage may be provided. The mounting means 58 may be a disc or a drum and may be located on at least one air, electro-magnetic, or oil film bearing. The compressor stage 42 may be located radially inwardly of the turbine stage. The re-pressurisation device 36 may compress cooling air in a gas turbine engine. |
