It is intended to provide a label for detecting a biomolecule by which various information of a sample can be obtained with the use of a plurality of detection methods. This label for detecting a biomolecule, which can be detected, after irradiating by using a radiation source, based on the absorption and/or scattering and/or diffraction of the radiant ray, and/or the absorption and emission of the radiant ray in a magnetic field, and/or the fluorescent emission after excitation by the radiant ray, is characterized by containing a dope metal of a rare earth element having been surface-treated so as to allow a biocompatible surface-modified substance to bind to the surface so as to detect the biomolecule or another organic substrate and containing inorganic nanoparticles having a coefficient of variation in diameter of from 10 to 30%. It is desirable that this label contains at least Gd and it is further desirable that the label contains at least a vanadic acid salt as a host material of the nanoparticles. |
