PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a regeneration method of a reforming catalyst which can regenerate a steam-reforming catalyst in a shorter time while controlling a residual fuel consumption further.
SOLUTION : The regeneration method of the reforming catalyst regenerates the steam-reforming catalyst for producing hydrogen by steam reforming a hydrocarbon based fuel, wherein the steam-reforming catalyst is obtained by supporting Ru of 0.3 mass% or above and 5 mass% or below as an active metal on a carrier which is obtained by supporting a rare-earth element oxide of 2 mass% or above and 25 mass% or below and an alkaline-earth element oxide of 0.1 mass% or above and 15 mass% or below per α-alumina on α-alumina, and the hydrocarbon based fuel and steam are provided to the steam-reforming catalyst so that a steam-reforming reaction is carried out and thereafter the hydrocarbon-based fuel is instantly stopped to be supplied while steam is continued to be supplied so that only steam is supplied to the catalyst to regenerate the catalyst.
