PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide excellent luminance uniformity while securing sufficient luminance, in a lighting device with a plurality of internal-external electrode type dielectric barrier discharge lamps.
SOLUTION : The lighting device includes : a plurality of bulbs 32 each formed of a dielectric material, filled with a discharge medium containing a rare gas, and arranged to extend their axes in directions parallel to one another; a plurality of internal electrodes 35 alternately arranged at ends of the respective individual bulbs 32 to penetrate the bulbs and to be arranged at the ends on the side opposite to those of the adjacent bulbs 32, and connected in parallel to a lighting circuit 40 outputting an A.C. drive voltage; and holding members 43A, 43B and 43C arranged outside the individual bulbs 32 by being spaced apart with spaces 41, and holding the bulbs 32 by shifting them so that the bulbs 32 adjacent to each other come close to each other from the intermediate parts of the bulbs 32 to the ends of the bulbs 32, and the adjacent bulbs 32 are absent from the intermediate parts of the bulb 32 to the internal electrodes 35.
