PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a rare earth metal complex useful as a catalyst for the polymerization of an olefin or a polar monomer such as lactone, and to provide a polymerization catalyst containing the complex, and a polymer production method using the catalyst.
SOLUTION : The rare earth metal complex is represented by formula (1) (wherein A is a group 14 element in the periodic table; Cp is a group having a cyclopentadienyl type anion skeleton; Ln is a group 3 metal atom or a lanthanoid metal atom; R1 to R6 each represents H, a halogen group, an alkyl group, an aryl group or the like; R7 is alkyl, an aryl group or aralkyl group; X is a monoanionic ligand; Y is a neutral ligand; and m and n are each an integer of 1 to 3).
