PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a hydrogen permeable membrane capable of increasing the purity of hydrogen gas by allowing the hydrogen gas to be selectively permeated from a fuel hydrogen gas flowing in such devices as an automobile fuel cell, a household fuel cell and portable fuel cell, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION : The hydrogen permeable membrane that the hydrogen permeable membrane 1 configured by dispersing at least one kind of hydrogen permeable metal particles 11 selected from palladium (Pd), niobium (Nb), vanadium (V), tantalum (Ta) and these alloy in a ceramic material 13 comprising a nitride of aluminum (Al) and/or silicon (Si), an oxide of aluminum (Al) and/or silicon (Si) or a silicate of rare earth elements, wherein the percentage of the particles 11 in the membrane 1 is 30 to 70 wt. % and the thickness of the film 1 is 5 to 1, 000 nm.
