PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a fiber laser capable of suppressing the output deterioration of amplified light and the heat generation of fiber laser. SOLUTION : The fiber laser has a rare earth addition double clad fiber having a core unit with rare earth elements added thereto, a means for effecting the incidence of signal light into the core unit of the rare earth addition double clad fiber and a means for effecting the incidence of exciting light, different from the signal light in the wavelength thereof, into the inside clad unit of the rear earth addition double clad fiber and a mechanism for effecting the incidence of the signal light and the exciting light from one end of the rear earth double clad fiber and outputting the laser oscillation light having the wavelength of the signal light from the other end. In such a fiber laser, a double clad fiber, into which the rare earth elements are not added, is arranged between a position, whereat the signal light and the exciting light are combined, and the incidental end of the rare earth addition double clad fiber.
