PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a multilayer coating film deposition method including a substrate rust prevention process capable of exhibiting rust preventing property, adhesion and coating film appearance equal to or above those in a conventional chemical conversion treatment process, and suitable for electrodeposition coating excellent in economic efficiency and environmental conservation by eliminating the conventional complicated and expensive rust preventing chemical conversion treatment process (for example, zinc phosphate treatment process).
SOLUTION : The multilayer coating film deposition method includes : (a) a process for forming an electrolytic film containing a rear earth metal and zinc on a metallic base material by immersing an untreated metallic base material in an aqueous solution containing nitrate of the rear earth metal and a zinc salt to carry out cathodic electrolysis; and (b) a process for forming an electrodeposition film by immersing the metallic base material on which the electrolytic film is formed in the process (a) in an electrodeposition coating material to carry out the electrodeposition coating.
