PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a method for producing a glass which can reduce foam remaining in a glass after production.
SOLUTION : Disclosed is a method for producing a glass where a glass raw material comprising silica sand, an alkali metal source and an alkaline-earth metal source is melted, and is subjected to decompression defoaming treatment, so as to be molded, as the alkaline-earth metal source, the one comprising the hydroxide of an alkaline-earth metal by 1 to 100 mol% expressed in terms of MO (wherein, M denotes an alkaline-earth metal element) in the alkaline-earth metal source of 100 mol% expressed in terms of MO is used, thus the content of moisture in the glass is controlled.
