PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED : To provide a solid golf ball improving a carry of a hit ball by providing the ball with excellent repulsion at a full shot with a driver and excellent in spin properties at approach, a sense of hitting and anti-abrasion properties.
SOLUTION : The solid golf ball is provided with a core, a cover layer for covering the core and a plurality of dimples formed on the outer surface of the cover layer. The core is formed of a rubber composition including a rubber backing including polybutadiene rubber synthesized in the use of a rare earth element catalyst, an organosulfur compound, an unsaturated carboxylic acid or its metallic salt, an organic peroxide and an inorganic filler. The amount of deformation under a specified load and the distribution of hardness of the core are appropriately corrected. The cover layer is formed of a single resin compound that consists essentially of a thermoplastic polyurethane (A) and a polyisocyanate compound (B) and is injection-molded. The polyisocyanate compound in which all isocyanate groups in a molecule remain unpolymerized is present in the resin compound. The golf ball has the thickness and the surface hardness of the cover layer and the amount of deformation in the whole of the ball under the specified load, which are appropriately corrected.
